Smock Alley Clearance

The LLRF committee have now cleared the weeds at the Smock Alley end of the lane, cleaned the road signs at both ends and tidied up the entrance to the lane at the hagland's Lane end.  The drainage ditch has been rescued and the water should now drain from Smock Alley/Lordings Lane into the stream.  We have also cut two drainage ditches at the far side of Smock Alley in order to help drain the water away.

We have contacted Southern Water to ask them to clear the other side of Lordings Lane which is now completely blocked.  They will need bigger equipment to clear this ditch than we have at our disposal.

It is now much safer to exit the lane at Smock Alley and the site looks a lot better.  This was accomplished on 5th October by a team of eight comprising committee members and partners.

We have now cleared the bushes overhanging the lane at the Haglands Lane end which provides a bit more space to enter and exit the lane.

In addition, Sussex County Council have dug the drainage ditch on the other side of Lordings Lane after numerous requests from the LL committee.

In order to help maintain the surface and appearance of the lane,

please take an hour or so now and again to sweep the lane outside your home.

Also, where the lane is narrow with overhanging bushes, can you please keep these bushes trimmed to allow for cars to pass.

While the committee is very active it cannot deal with all the debris that accumulates throughout the year.

Please help us to keep your lane clean
