Lane Infomation

Smock Alley
Proposals for developing a site in Smock Alley have beed rejected by HDC.
Security
Apparently, there have been a number of burglaries in the Storrington/Thakenham/West Chiltington area over recent weeks, mostly of properties where the owners are away on holiday. So beware, make sure your property is secure and your alarm switched on when leaving your home.
Smock Alley Drainage
After a bit of arm twisting, Sussex County Council have finally dug the drainage ditch at the Smock Alley end of the lane. This will help the rain to drain away and along with the removal of the weeds on the other side of Lording Lane we are now in good shape to deal with the winter.
General Cleaning
It would help the Lane enormously if you can find an hour to clean up the Lane in front of your house by sweeping up all the debris that accumulates on a regular basis. This would save the fund the expense of employing a contractor to do this and provide you with some exercise! The Lane always looks at its best when it is kept clean and tidy.
If there are bushes/hedges overlapping the lane it would help us if you would keep these trimmed so cars can pass by easliy.
Ambulance and Emergency Calls in Lordings Lane
The local Community Responders (CHART) have asked me to point out that residents need to have their
house name prominately displayed and lit up at night time so that emergency vehicles can find the correct house. Unlike roads that are numbered, it is impossible to estimate where a house name is located and the Ambulance Service has wasted valuable minutes trying to find a particular house, especially in the dark!
